Sheriff: Paulding County man arrested for death of child
PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. - Paulding County deputies have arrested a man in the death and alleged murder of a child.
The Paulding County Sheriff said that 31-year-old Charles Edward Smith was arrested on July 12 and charged with first degree cruelty to children and felony murder.
Police say the incident happened on Jan 9, 2018 at a home on the 200 block of Southern Trace Way..
After an investigation, the Medical Examiner's office ruled the child's death a homicide, and police secured a warrant for Smith's arrest.
He is now being held at the Paulding County Detention Center with no bond.
