A second suspect has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Conner, officials said.

Chauncey Askew, 18, was taken into custody early Tuesday morning in Loris, SC after a lengthy manhunt and standoff with SWAT, Columbus County District Attorney Jon David and law enforcement announced at a news conference. He is facing charges of first-degree murder.

Askew is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

Raheem Cole Dashanell Davis, 20, was previously arrested with first-degree murder after authorities say he shot and killed Trooper Conner during an early morning traffic stop on U.S. 701 on Oct. 17.

Davis is being held in the Columbus County Jail without bond.

Conner's funeral was held Sunday at South Columbus High School. He was an 11-year veteran of the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
