Authorities said late Friday they found the body of a man who they had been searching for since Thursday evening at a Monroe County park. Investigators have ruled the cause of death a suicide.

Jeffrey Scott Kiff, 53, of Connecticut, had been missing since Nov. 2018. Investigators said the family last spoke to Kiff last month.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office said they got a call Thursday evening about a suspicious car since earlier that morning on Towilaga River Drive, near the Dollar General in High Falls. Deputies said they found a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado unlocked and abandoned. Investigators said they found a suicide note on the driver’s seat.

This prompted a massive search including several units with the Georgia Department of Resources, the State Patrol, deputies, and park staff. The search went on well past dark before being called off until first light.

Deputies said they found Kiff’s body early Friday morning.
