Scattered t-storms Tuesday and Tropical Storm Bret

- We are setting up for repeated, daily downpours this week as tropical moisture interacts with a front that will stall across north Georgia. Some areas could see several inches of rain by the end of the week.

Although we saw heavy rain this evening, most of the showers and t-showers should be diminishing during the overnight hours.

Scattered storms on Tuesday should settle around metro Atlanta and areas south as the cold front makes progress southward.  Temperatures will take a break on Tuesday with highs in most spots in the mid 70's to low 80's.

The front will get hung up over Georgia for later this week as tropical moisture from a Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 works northward. Even though the system is expected to move onshore well to our west, the plume of tropical moisture associated with it could help to ramp up rainfall totals in parts of our area for the second half of the week.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for portions of southeast Alabama, the Florida
Panhandle, central and western Big Bend of Florida, and southwest Georgia. Through Thursday, that area could see an average of three to six inches of rain with some areas seeing as much at six to 12 inches as the tropical system approaches.

Farther out in the Caribbean we now have Tropical Storm Bret which will will not pose a threat to the United States, but will bring heavy rain to parts of South America as well as the ABC islands as it moves WNW across the southern Caribbean.
