Sandy Springs man shot while going to his mailbox

A two-year resident of a Sandy Springs apartment complex said she is shocked to hear about an incidence of serious violence.

Around 11 o’clock Wednesday night, a young man told police he was headed to the apartment postal station to get his mail. Someone in a vehicle began firing on him and struck him four times.

Sandy Springs police took a statement from a witness who was not involved in the incident. That witness reported seeing a green and gold van at the scene. It's not clear what the victim might have been able to see as the gunfire hit him from behind.

That man is being treated at a hospital. Management at the Nevadan Apartments located on Glenridge Drive did not make any statements.
