ATLANTA - The Salvation Army was out in Atlanta Thursday helping people beat the heat.
The metro Atlanta Area Command spent the day distributing 2,000 free box fans to people in need.
This is the Salvation Army's 25th year doing this.
They estimate they have distributed around 40,000 fans over the years.
Organizers said the box fans go to people for a variety of reasons.
The Salvation Army purchased the fans with the help of a donor-advised gift through the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta (JFGA).
