Roswell man accused of groping, following girl home

Police have arrested a man they said groped a 12-year-old girl at a gas station and followed her and friends to a Cobb County home.

Cobb County Jail records indicate Christopher Anders Vangelder, 34, of Roswell, was arrested was arrested at his home on Nov. 22 on felony child molestation charges. Court documents show the charges stem from an Oct. 27 incident at the QuikTrip located on Woodstock Road in Cobb County. A 12-year-old girl was in the store around 10 p.m. with her friend and her friend’s mother, according to court records.

An arrest warrant states Vangelder inappropriately grabbed the girl and followed her to her friend’s home.

Vangelder did stop his car in front of the home, but sped away when confronted by the mother, according to the warrant.

He was released on $5,700 bond, according to jail records.

According to Fulton County Jail records, Vangelder by Roswell Police Friday on peeping tom charges stemming from an incident in mid-September. Details surrounding that incident were not immediately known.

It was not immediately clear if Vangelder has an attorney in either case. No one was at the home listed in jail records for Vangelder when FOX 5’s George Franco stopped by Tuesday night.

A representative from QuikTrip told FOX 5 News the company is working with police in every way possible in this case.
