Putnam County jailer accused of having sex with inmate

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Putnam County jailer faces charges after authorities say he was recorded having sex with an inmate.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills says he personally arrested Durell Roberson on Tuesday.

The sheriff says an inmate released from jail last month informed authorities that Roberson was having sexual contact with a woman in custody.

The sheriff's office then installed a camera and captured an alleged sexual encounter between Roberson and the female inmate.

They've charged Roberson with sexual assault by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority and violation of oath by a public officer.
