A woman in Sandy Springs has a desperate plea: help bring back her two-year-old poodle, Mandy, safe and sound.

“Please get her back to me,” pleads Tara Mercado, whose dog went missing after her home was burglarized.

Sandy Springs Police said at least one burglar ransacked her home at the Highland Park Apartments, and stole thousands worth of her possessions, including her TV, clothes and jewelry. Mercado believes Mandy ran outside when the burglars came in.

Police said burglars have targeted several units at the complex within the past two months, searching for televisions and jewelry.

“[The door was] already unlocked. When I walked in the apartment, my dog didn't greet me,” Mercado said.

“I was hysterical. This is my baby,” she said.

Mercado has been searching the apartment complex and the surrounding area for days, and also placing fliers with information on a $1,000 reward.

“I want my dog back. Everything else is replaceable,” she said.
