A 2-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was shot and then dropped off at a fire station in southwest Atlanta Friday night, according to police.

Atlanta Police said young Xavier Miller was dropped off just before 8:30 p.m. at Atlanta Fire Station 9 located at 3501 Martin Luther King Drive, but the shooting actually happened at the Providence of Cascade Apartments located at 320 Fairburn Road.

The boy was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital but later transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Family members said he was expected to undergo emergency surgery late Friday night.

He's now recovering at the hospital, they say.

"I just went down there today to see him. I got pictures of him with the tubes out," Xavier's aunt Teia Cason said. "He's doing good."

Family members said they were trying to take the child to the hospital, but had to stop because he was losing too much blood.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. While no arrests have been made so far, police said they know everyone who was involved.
