ATLANTA - A woman is fighting for her life after being struck by three cars while crossing the busy Downtown Connector Tuesday evening. Now, police are searching for two of those cars which did not stop.
It happened just after 8:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of traffic just north of the University Avenue exit along Interstates 75 and 85. Atlanta Police said the woman was crossing the southbound lanes towards the median when she was struck by the multiple vehicles.
The victim was in critical condition as she was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. Her name has not yet been released by officials.
Investigators said it was not clear why the woman was on the restricted interstate highway, to begin with, or why she chose to cross the path of traffic.
The southbound lanes of the Downtown Connector were closed for about two hours as a result of the incident.
