Investigators discovered a new high-tech Bluetooth skimmer at pump two at the Valero at 2062 Highway 155 N.

Henry County Police Captain Joey Smith said it’s a sophisticated piece of circuitry which uses Bluetooth technology attached to the wiring of the pump.

“They use Bluetooth technology to download the card that’s being read at the time and then they upload it to another location. The individual could be in the parking lot, he could be around the corner, he could be who knows where,” said Captain Smith

He said the bluetooth skimmer was first spotted about two weeks ago during routine maintenance.
By the time someone realized something was amiss, a lot of customers had used pump two.

“The way they are getting their information, the information can be stored and used later,” said Captain Smith.

Henry County Police advise customers who used pump two during this time frame, in particular with a debit card, to contact their bank to make sure their card wasn’t compromised.

Police also ask customers to do what Josh Daniel does to avoid getting ripped off.

“You can prevent it by going inside or you know paying with cash there’s multiple ways;” said Daniel.

Authorities advise customers to look for security seals at the pumps.

Carl DeMarco said he always checks for older style skimmers.

He said a Bluetooth skimmer is a game changer which might change his ways.

“I may have to go to strictly cash then in a society that’s going cashless,” said DeMarco.

Anyone who believes they may be a victim is asked to contact the Henry County Police Department.
