Authorities are trying a new push in a decades-old case.

Deputies have released a new image of a child whose remains were found in 1998 in by the side of a road in Mebane, North Carolina.

The new image is a 3-D reconstruction of what the boy may have looked liked when he was alive. Police say he was a white or Hispanic boy between the ages of 9 to 12. He was about 4-foot-11 with straight brown hair and was wearing khaki shorts, socks, and brown sneakers.

While his remains were found in North Carolina, officials say chemical isotope and pollen tests say he was likely from Georgia or Alabama.

If you recognize him, please call the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or the Orange County Sheriff's Office at (919) 644-3050.
