ATLANTA - Thirty Atlanta police officers canvassed several south side neighborhood blocks to show citizens and merchants an image of a rapist.
Back on July 10, a teenage girl said she was on her way home when a man pulled a weapon and forced her to an isolated area. He assaulted her. It happened in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Drive NW, according to police.
The 16-year-old was able to supply police with a detailed description of her attacker.
She described the black male as being about 20-years-old. She remembers some distinctive features. His bottom teeth are gold and there is a tattoo of lips on his neck.
Dozens of citizens were given copies of the attacker's image. They readily accepted the sketch and promised to help police should they see someone matching the description.
Police describe the man as being in his early 20s, 5'10" or taller, with a slender build, short black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of lips on his neck. Investigators said the man is likely armed and dangerous.
Anyone who sees him is asked to call the Atlanta Police Special Victims Unit at 404-546-4260 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may be eligible for up to a $2,000 reward for the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
