Police are on the lookout for a peeping tom who investigators said removed the screen from a bedroom window, cut through blinds, and created a hole to peer into a 19-year-old's bedroom.

The family warning people in surrounding neighborhoods in the city of Sandy Springs to lock their windows and doors while this man is on the loose. They live in a community off Roberts Drive in the Preserve at Dunwoody apartment complex.

"Frightening. You come face to face with somebody that's just been looking at you," said the young woman, who spoke exclusively to FOX 5 about finally seeing the man who's been spotted peering into her room.

Police said they believe the man responsible has been peeking into the woman's bedroom over the past few weeks; neighbors have also spotted the man loitering around their area and around her window, investigators said.

The family said it first discovered her screen from a window taken down; later, they discovered someone had cut a portion of the slats from the blinds.

"It was a direct view of her bed... it's scary. It's my daughter's privacy," said the concerned mother, afraid who else he may be targeting. The mother wanted to remain anonymous. She and other neighbors have also spotted the man outside her daughter's bedroom.

Police said they had not had any more reports of a peeping tom in the area.

Officers did not release a description of the suspect, hoping to identify and nab the perpetrator soon.

A letter found on neighbors' doors Wednesday night warned residents to be aware of a "man loitering" around the "back of a building late at night."

Residents who spot the man are asked to call 911 immediately.
