Police: Man walking on I-20 struck by car

ATLANTA - A man walking on Interstate 20 was struck by a car early Thursday morning, according to police.

The Atlanta Police Department said the man was walking on I-20 near Spring Street when a car struck him. The driver, who remained at the scene, told investigators he tried to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but was not able to in time.

The man was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

No charges are expected to be filed in the case, according to police, but officers do want to know why he was walking on the highway.
