Darius Daniels' life came to a violent end inside a friend's motel room early Wednesday...

Gwinnett Police say a group of masked men shot the 28-year-old here in a first floor unit at the Homestay Suites in the 4300 block of Stone Mountain Highway near Lilburn just before 4 a.m.

Gwinnett County Police spokesperson Ashley Wilson says, "Suspect information right now are described as four or five black males wearing all black and black masks."

Grieving family gathered at the crime scene Wednesday afternoon.

They didn't want to go on camera but tell FOX 5 News, the Snellville man was in the wrong place at the wrong time, a victim of mistaken identity.

Loved ones say Daniels' friend lives in a ground floor unit where he was killed, and that Daniels was hanging out there when the gunmen showed up.

They believe Daniels resembled the man they were looking for and the gunmen shot him by mistake.

According to a motel employee, the father of four who moved into an upstairs unit about six weeks ago was a good guy and trying to find work when he was killed.

No arrests have been made. Police said they are looking for four to five black males, who were wearing all black with masks when the shooting happened. They are believed to be armed.
