ATHENS, Ga. - A man was sent to the hospital after police say a group of men forced their way into a house in Athens during the Thanksgiving weekend.
Officers said that three suspects entered the home off of Wellington Court and demanded money from its occupants, one of whom was an 8-year-old child.
During the incident, one of the residents was shot in the calf. Police described the injury as a "through-and-through wound" which appeared to be nonlife-threatening.
The shooter and another suspect fled the scene after the shooting, but the home's occupants were able to detain the third suspect, a man named Larry Ebron.
Ebron was injured while being subdued, officials said. He and the shooting victim were both transported to a local hospital.
Ebron has been charged with home invasion and aggravated assault.
Police are asking anyone who has information about the other two suspects, who have been identified as black men, to please contact Detective Paul Johnson at (706) 613-3330 ext. 552.
