Police: Man arrested after robbing, killing friend

Deputies in DeKalb County have arrested a teenager after they said he robbed his friend and then killed him.

Officials say on Nov. 5 at an apartment building on the 1700 block of Weatherly Drive in Stone Mountain, 19-year-old Tucker resident Maleik Woods stole around $1,500 from Francisco Zapata using a semi-automatic handgun, who officials say was a friend of Woods.

After receiving the money, police say Woods shot Zapata in the chest, killing him.

Three days later, deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office arrested Woods at a business near Decatur.

Woods is currently in the DeKalb County Jail after being charged with felony murder and felony armed robbery.
