Police: Man accessed secure area at Atlanta's airport

A traveler surprised authorities when he went into a secured area and ran out on to the airfield at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Saturday evening.

The man, identified by police as George Churchill, displayed erratic behavior, according to Major Lane Hagin, the airport’s police commander.

An alarm sounded on the door that was breached, according to police.

Atlanta officers scrambled into their cruisers to give chase, according to the commander.

Police said when the officers surrounded Churchill, he took a fighting stance.

Eventually, officers used a stun gun and tackled him with the help of a Delta employee.

Churchill was charged with two city violations and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
