COBB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Marietta police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that happened early Tuesday morning.
According to Marietta police, 29-year-old Marietta resident Donnivan Frye was walking on the center lane of Cobb Parkway South outside of the designated crosswalk in front of the main gate of Dobbins Air Reserve Base.
A driver, 23-year-old Acworth resident Ben Garland entered teh center lane to turn into the air base. Police say Garland was "unable to avoid Frye," leading to a collision.
After the first collission, Frye was thrown into the other lane and hit a second time by a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Kory Cooper of Palmetto, Georgia.
Medics rushed Frye to Kennestone Hospital where he later died.
Both drivers remained on the scene and are cooperating with the investigation. Neither were injured.
The accident caused heavy delays during the morning rush hour.
