Police looking for father missing for more than 3 weeks

- Authorities are searching for a Haralson County father who has been missing for three weeks.

According to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, James Trammel “Smiley” Warren, 39, went to visit his children in Alabama and hasn’t been seen since.

"Why do they call him Smiley? Because he smiled all the time, he was just happy all the time," said Sandra Floyd, Warren’s mother.

Investigators told FOX 5 News Warren vanished after he had driven a borrowed car from Tallapoosa to nearby Fruithurst, Alabama in neighboring Cleburne County to visit his children.

"And that was the last time he was seen and then the car was abandoned on Magnolia Street across the street from the DFACS office at a vacant house," said Floyd.

The vehicle's discovery in Buchanan, back in Haralson County, led to k-9's trying to locate Warren. Search crews scoured forty acres near the vacant home but found nothing.

"Are you concerned of foul play? There's always that possibility. I would like to think no but in today's times you can never tell. And we don't know," said Chief Deputy Joel McSwain, with the Haralson County Sheriff's Office.

McSwain said shortly before his disappearance, Warren had returned from Pensacola, Florida where someone robbed him of his cell phone and wallet when he was working a construction job.

McSwain told FOX 5 News Warren had also been carrying a handgun when he vanished.

"Obviously the weapon could have been for protection from whatever may have been bothering or troubling Mr. Warren,"' said McSwain.

Sandra Floyd said she's finding solace in her nonprofit, Rachel's Wish Foundation, an equine therapy program for special needs and troubled children and young people. She told FOX 5 News her family and friends are also helping and searching for answers.

"So let the good come forward so evil does not prevail in the name of my son," said Floyd.

Investigators told FOX 5 News they have interviewed family, friends, and acquaintances of Warren with more interviews anticipated to provide more direction in the investigation into his whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Haralson County Sheriff's Office.
