ATLANTA - Atlanta Police are searching for the driver who struck a woman crossing a Southwest Atlanta street and fled, leaving her on the side of the road and now recovering from horrific injuries.
"It could have been worse...my leg is [broken], I have to learn how to walk again. I have pins and screws on my back," said Brandi Brewer, 33, who suffered multiple fractures to her collarbone and leg and needed a number of surgeries.
Police said on May 27, around 11:30 p.m., Brewer was crossing the road outside of her house when a black vehicle with an unknown make and model struck her and fled.
Brewer's boyfriend tells FOX 5, he arrived home to find her lying in the street wounded.
Brewer was in the hospital for several weeks before returning home, now with a long and painful road to recovery. She's mostly bedridden and confined to a wheelchair.
"I wish the person will turn themselves in... or just help me find justice," she said.
The family has added funds to push the Crime Stoppers reward to $2,500. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call (404) 577-TIPS.
