Suspected shooter ID'd in fatal Norcross shooting

Police have identified a man accused of fatally shooting another man at a Norcross gas station last week. A search is still underway for the two suspects, police say, are involved in the shooting.
Gwinnett County Police said Tuesday several tips came in from the community identifying the suspected shooter as 19-year-old Nickolas Young. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault in the shooting death of 34-year-old Vitali Mialik, of Suwannee.

On February 3rd, officers found Mialik shot to death at the Valero gas station on Beaver Ruin Road. The body was lying in the middle of the parking lot, police said.

After an investigation, police determined that Mialik went inside the store to purchase items. The two suspects also entered to store and the suspected shooter purchased items from the store as well. As the suspects left the store, police say they got into a verbal argument with the victim in the parking lot. The argument escalated and the shooter retrieved an assault rifle from his vehicle and shot Mialik.

Police released surveillance images the suspected shooter to the media along with descriptions of both suspects.

Young, the suspected shooter, is described as a black male, between 18 and 25-years-old, between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slim build, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.

A second suspect is described as being between 18 and 25-years-old with average height and build.

Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as a white or silver SUV, possibly a Toyota 4- Runner or similar type vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gwinnett County police Department at 770-513-5300.
