Police: Flowery Branch man hit deputy during traffic stop

A Flowery Branch man has been charged after a traffic stop

The Halls County Sheriff's Office said that 27-year-old James Jackson Chatham was stopped for traffic violations on Union Circle.

The deputies found him to be driving under the influence, they said in a statement.

Chatham resisted arrest, police said, and hit one of the arresting deputies in the face.

He has now been booked in the Hall County Jail and charged with driving under the influence over the legal limited, felony obstruction, two founds of misdemeanor obstruction, failure to maintain lane of travel and no seatbelt.
