Police: Cyclist hit by taxi near DeKalb County school

- Police are investigating after a bicyclist was hit by a taxi driver in front of a school Tuesday morning. 

The accident happened in the 700 block of Indian Creek Road, which is near Clarkston High School.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, a man was riding his bike in the bicycle lane when he was struck by a taxi around 7:40 a.m. Police said the taxi turned in front of the bicyclist, causing the collision. 

The taxi driver initially left the scene, unaware he had struck anyone, but then returned. Police said he's being cooperative. 

The taxi driver was charged with failure to maintain lane. 

The bicyclist suffered minor injuries, according to police.
