Police: Cartersville man, fiance arrested for child exploitation

A Cartersville, Georgia man and his fiance living in Michigan have both been arrested after police say they discovered images of child pornography on devices in his home.

The Barstow County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that they received a tip that 27-year-old Shawn Ryan Budovic was possibly in possession of child pornography.

On Oct. 31, officials from the Sheriff's office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations received a federal search warrant for Budovic's Cartersville home on McKaskey Creek Road.

Agents said that they found pornographic images of three children, one who was 3 years old, on electronic devices seized from the home. The images appeared to be "homemade," they said.

Investigators determined that Budovic's 17-year-old fiance and Trenton, Michigan resident Kayla White was the one who had taken the images of the children and forwarded them on to Budovic.

The children were 3, 4, and 9 years old.

Officials contacted HSI-Detroit and the Trenton Police Department who located White and the children.

Budovic has been booked into Bartow County Jail and is charged with computer pornography and felony child exploitation. More federal charges are expected to come in the future. White was charged with first-degree child abuse.

Investigators are asking that anyone who may have information about this case or other cases of child exploitation to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Unit at 404-270-8870.
