Police: 'Candy Store' raided in northwest Atlanta

Atlanta police raided a northwest Atlanta apartment called the “candy store.” Police arrested ten people, seized guns and a lot of alcohol.

Police said residents called them to the Sierra Ridge Apartment complex on Delmar Lane around 11 a.m. after they spotted several people were walking around holding guns.

Investigators said when officers rolled up, those individuals scattered. They arrested three women and seven men before executing a search warrant at an apartment known as the “candy store.”  That is where officers said they found guns, alcohol, cash and a small amount of marijuana.

“One of the guns, an AR-15, was stolen out of Doraville,” Major Paul Guerrucci said.

The police veteran also said Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been called in to help find out the origin of the other guns.

FOX 5 News spoke with one mother and grandmother who said she has come to understand the culture of the area called “The Nine.”

“These guys are not bad people. They are protecting us. They are not going to let anybody from the outside come to our section and try to harm us,” Ms. Ogletree said.

Ogletree said she has survived for four years with prayer and belief that God would protect her family.
