MARTA authorities are investigating how a man's body was left in the trunk of a car, while parked at a northwest Atlanta MARTA station.

The body of 33-year-old Christopher Dean, of Lithia Springs, was discovered at the Hamilton E. Holmes station Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

"Preliminary reports from the MARTA Police Department are that they were contacted in reference to a vehicle that was in the parking lot," said Alisa Jackson, a spokesperson for MARTA.

Jackson said she could not disclose who may have contacted police, or what they specifically said about the vehicle, but said investigators discovered a body after a search of the car.

Authorities could not disclose information about the condition of the man's body upon discovery, or how long it could have been there. Police are reviewing surveillance to learn who could have driven and left the car in the parking lot.

Police believe Dean was killed at another location.

Anyone with information on the case or tips is asked to call MARTA Police.
