ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police have made three arrests in connection with recent robbery attacks near Piedmont Park.
Malica Astin, 18, Sahib Russell, 19, Ricardo Randolph, 18 are facing a number of charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated assault strangulation, and armed robbery, among several others.
On July 18, a man was attacked from behind in the 700 block of Peachtree Street in Midtown. According to police, the three suspects stabbed the victim while demanding money from him. The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition with several stab wounds.
The next attack happened on July 27 near Monroe Drive Northeast. Atlanta police said 33-year-old William Bridges had on ear pods when a man attacked him from behind and began choking him. Police said two additional suspects showed up and demanded his cellphone, passcode, and wallet.
Bridges complied with all requests but was still stabbed eight times, police said. He was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center, where he remained Monday afternoon.
Police say they have also linked the suspects to a third assault and robbery that happened on July 2 in Atlanta. In that case, police say a 32-year-old woman was leaving a MARTA station on Peachtree Road when she was grabbed by behind by two men. A third man then joined the other two and stole her purse, police said.
Atlanta police identified the three suspects on Tuesday and made the arrests early Wednesday morning. They were taken to the Fulton County Jail.
