Store Owner: Armed robber goes 'trick-or-treating' at gas station
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Gwinnett County Police are looking for a man accused of robbing a gas station at gunpoint while wearing a skeleton mask and holding a plastic pumpkin basket.
The incident occurred November 2 at a Valero gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Norcross.
The owner, Hyder Lalani, spoke with FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell about the crime.
"[He was] wearing a Halloween mask and the trick-or-treat box and things..that is suspicious to begin with," Lalani said.
The cashier and a customer said the man pulled out a gun before stealing items and leaving the store, according to the police report obtained by FOX 5 News.
Surveillance video shows the man get into a white Toyota Camry.
A witness at a gas pump told investigators the man took off his mask once outside. He described him as a white male, in his late twenties with curly blonde hair.
Lalani doesn't believe the thief intended on hurting anyone. But he's thankful his customers and employees didn't react in a way that would've made a bad situation worse.
"You are calling for trouble if you go after that," Lalani stressed.
