ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - One person is dead and one person is in the hospital with injuries following a shooting in Atlanta Saturday, according to the Atlanta Police department.
Investigators told FOX 5 News the shooting happened in the 2800 block of Martin Luther King Dr. at the Seven Courts Apartments.
Residents at the apartment building recorded a lot of the aftermath on cell phone video.
"You just heard a loud noise – like do, do, do – like a cannonball going off. Then it stopped and all of a sudden you heard a pistol and my fiance came in and told the kids 'Get down! Get down!" one witness said.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with children and adults running in screaming as bullets were flying.
Police found two men at the location with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, where one of the victims later died.
Atlanta police say the surviving gunman is claiming the shooting was a robbery gone wrong.
Officials spent hours processing the crime scene, saying the gunmen traveled the span of at least three buildings in the complex.
Investigators are now working to verify the surviving gunman's robbery story.
