A Paulding County baby, who made quite the entrance into the world, celebrated his first birthday on Tuesday.

Last year, on November 15, little Memphis was in such a hurry to arrive that he decided to make his grand entrance on Dallas Highway in Cobb County.

"My husband, he was my hero that night," mother Krista Houze told FOX 5 last November.

Her husband, Jonathon Houze, had been speeding, trying to get his wife to Kennestone Hospital, when he was pulled over by a Cobb County police officer.

"I'm thankful for him pulling me over, because had he not I would have had to deliver the baby then called whoever I needed to call, but since he did it worked out for the better," Houze said.

The officer helped Houze deliver his son by holding up a flashlight and hanging on tightly to his wife’s hands.

The baby was named after the southern city where his father’s idol, Elvis, reigned. Memphis' birth certificate says he was delivered by his father on Dallas Highway.

Tuesday, Memphis turned 1-year-old and he’s doing great.

“He loves to climb stairs and is starting to walk,” Mrs. Houze told FOX.

To celebrate the big milestone, the family is having a carnival themed birthday party on Saturday with family and friends.
