Dump truck spills full load on Sugarloaf Parkway

Traffic is back to normal after an early afternoon crash involving a dump truck near Lawrenceville.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday along Sugarloaf Parkway and Martins Chapel Road. SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene a little after 1 p.m. and spotted a full load of dirt and clay on the side of the spilled from the truck.

The east bound lanes were shut down for a couple of hours and traffic was directed onto New Hope Road.

The truck driver was treated and released at the scene with only minor injuries, according to paramedics.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department’s Hazmat Unit was requested to check a leak from a hydraulic tank on the dump truck due to the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved.
