ATLANTA - Atlanta community organizations came together Friday to provide food for needy families.
The Atlanta Police Foundation, Atlanta Public Schools officials, and others gathered at the At-Promise Community Center to hand out bags of essential foods.
In part, organizers said they were motivated to put together the meals after snow forced Atlanta Public Schools to close for three days this week.
Those closures can mean lots of students go without a hot meal for the day.
Organizers said hundreds of families received food boxes during Friday's event.
