A small fire is to blame for a slowdown in MARTA service, transit officials said Thursday afternoon.

A MARTA spokesperson said a small fire along the tracks near Midtown Station pushed smoke into the station forcing an evacuation and the power rail to deactivate.

Passengers using the Gold and Red lines were being bussed between the Art Center and Civic stations.

The Atlanta Fire Department worked to put out the fire, but the incident was cleared up within an hour and service slowly returned to normal.

No reports of injuries.
