North Georgia Charity in Need of Canned Goods

A north Georgia charity is in desperate need to recoup of major shortfall in canned goods.

As a result of the rain during the North Georgia State Fair food drive, MUST Ministries tells FOX 5 it only raised one-third of its canned goods goal.

The group's president and CEO Dr. Ike Reighard says, last year, the group collected nearly 70,000 pounds of food, feeding more than 32,000 people.

“Our food pantries alone serve more than 330,000 lbs. of food to 18,900 men, women and children each year, so the 25-ton deficiency is significant.  Our clients count on the community’s support,” Reighard said.

The group is now challenging individuals as well as corporations, churches and neighborhoods to pledge at least a ton of food.

The group needs the following the most:

Unexpired canned meat (chicken, tuna, ham, salmon), boxed dinners with meat, beef stew, peanut butter, jelly, vegetables, spaghetti sauce with meat, chili, soup and beans.

To pledge a ton of food, please email gfleming@mustministries.org with the name of your organization and contact information. Details and a pallet box will be provided.

Individuals who would like to help can bring canned goods to the MUST

Donation Center at 55 Chastain Road, Suite 110, Kennesaw, GA.

The warehouse is open for donations Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
