ATLANTA - Atlanta city leaders open a new facility aimed at reducing crime in southwest Atlanta.
Friday morning, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Police Chief Erika Shields came together to open the new Atlanta Police Department Mini-Precinct on Fulton Industrial Boulevard.
Chief Shields said her department will assign around 12 to 15 officers to the building but she said plenty more officers will be able to use the resources available there.
The building itself is a former SunTrust Bank branch that the company donated to the Atlanta Police Department in 2015.
It was initially set to open more than a year ago but an arsonist torched it in 2016 forcing the city to complete extensive repairs.
