EAST POINT, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - For nearly seven months, Vanessa Sarden has had to wonder who killed her daughter and why.
According to East Point Police, two men in hooded sweatshirts robbed Joyleesa Roby, 29, and then shot her at close range as she walked along Washington Road just before 1 a.m. August 25. Paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital, but she did not survive.
Police said they have very little information in the case.
"Right now, it's just the door is wide open because there are no answers," said Sarden. "There's nothing to connect. There is just nothing. It's just emptiness because we don't know and I want to know."
Sarden flew across the country to meet with investigators Tuesday. She hopes that speaking out about her daughter's murder could help generate new leads.
"Her life was worth living. So, because her life was worth living, it's worth me fighting for. Because I know she didn't deserve it," Sarden explained.
Investigators ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
