Mother accused of killing husband, 4 kids enters not guilty plea

- A Gwinnett County woman charged in the stabbing deaths of her family appeared in court Monday morning and entered a not guilty plea.

Through her attorney, Isabel Martinez pleaded not guilty and waived the reading of the charges against her.

Martinez is accused of murdering her husband and five children in their Loganville home back in July. Her 9-year-old daughter was the only one who survived.

She's facing several charges, including six counts of aggravated assault, five counts of murder, and five counts of malice murder, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

Previously in court, Martinez was seen grinning as the judge talked about the case against her. She held her arms open and swayed back and forth. At one point, she held her hands together in a prayer position and nodded at the cameras.

Monday's court appearance was brief and only last several minutes.

The Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office told FOX 5 News they will not be seeking the death penalty in this case due to the defendant's long history with mental illness.
