Never underestimate the power of a lemonade stand… Or, a 12-year-old girl.

Jaelyn Sagen, of Los Alamitos, California, has raised thousands of dollars for the homeless since starting JJ’s lemonade stand when she was just 6-years-old.

Sagen donates all of her profits to the “We Care” program, which is an organization that helps the community’s homeless.

Her mother, Janelle Sagen, couldn’t be more proud.

"I thought it wasn't fair like some people have to live that way,” Sagen said. “She just has a really special heart, a really special heart."

Since starting her lemonade stand, Sagen has raised more than $16,000 for the homeless, and this year, her goal is to raise $10,000 more.

"It's not about getting publicity,” she explained. “It's about knowing you did something good in your heart."
