As the country gathered to mark Veterans Day over the weekend, a southern California family had an additional reason to honor a veteran who serviced in the Army during World War II.

Baruyr "Buddy" Poladian celebrated his 100th birthday just two days before Veterans Day.  Poladian enlisted in the Army on October 9, 1941, just a few months before the attack on Pearl Harbor.

"I feel so proud that my father stood and still stands for one nation under God and that he gave his life to go and fight for the very freedom that I get to enjoy every day," daughter Helen Kulungian said.

Over the weekend, his four adult children, eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren threw him the birthday bash of a lifetime. Even his baby brother, who is 96, made it to the party.

Every day, Poladian, who lost his beloved wife of 73 years just last year, reads from the Bible, saying it keeps his faith sharp and his mind young.
