What do you get when you mix the Book Buddies Reading Program and dogs? Children reading tales to tails!  BBRP pairs up with the Humane Society of Missouri and sends out trained volunteers, ages 5-16, to read to dogs in shelters.

It's really a treat for the canines, as it helps them become comfortable with visitors and gain confidence they didn't have prior to coming into the shelter. This is an incredible way to calm them over time. Many of the animals that come in to this new environment at the Humane Society are stressed out, shy, and even fearful.

And bet your bottom dollar this is treat for both the dogs AND the children who get to read to them. The volunteers also gain from this experience...how to interact with their new buddies!
