Police in one Minnesota county warned motorists to stay off the ice as warm weather has made it dangerous to take shortcuts across the many lakes in the area.

Wednesday, the driver of a Ford sports utility vehicle became the first to crack through the ice of Lake Minnetonka while taking a shortcut.

Luckily the driver got out safely. Warmer weather is forecasted and ice has deteriorated greatly, the sheriff’s office warned.
