A seafood restaurant in San Diego, California got an unexpected guest Thursday morning when a sea lion pup wandered in and casually took a seat.

Hilarious photos were shared on Facebook by Bernard Guillas, who is the Executive Chef at The Marine Room. The pictures show the 8-month-old sea lion sitting and clearly waiting to be served!

The seal lion entered through a door left open by a cleaning crew and was malnourished, weighing only 20 pounds. That's less than half the normal size for its age.

A Sea World San Diego team was called to remove the animal from the premises and care for it.

"He was a little bit early for his high tide breakfast reservation," Guillas joked on Facebook. "As it is this weekend on Sunday and Monday."

"It's early on in this animal's rehabilitation and its condition is guarded, but we are cautiously optimistic," said Jody Westberg with Sea World.

The rescued sea lion was treated to a big meal by the Sea World staff and he will likely stay in captivity until he reaches a healthy weight.
