Panda cubs prepare for public debut

Canada’s first baby pandas are preparing for their public debut by spending more time with their mother, Er Shun.

The two cubs were born in October, and zoo staff have been alternating time spent with their mother so neither would be ignored.

But at four months old, they are now both with her ahead of their March 12 public debut.

“Er Shun’s first reaction was to try picking up both cubs at once, something she had difficulty with since the cubs are now quite large,” the zoo reported.

The zoo is also seeking the public’s help in naming the cubs. People can vote for their favorite of six names; voting closes on February 28.
