ATLANTA, Ga. - An Atlanta woman is celebrating her 100th birthday on Thursday!
Rosemary Bauer was born on September 17, 1915 in Providence, Rhone Island. She has been an Atlanta resident since the 1980s.
On Thursday, a birthday party will be held in her honor at the A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods nursing home. She will celebrate her milestone day with family, friends and members of her church, which is St. Thomas More Church in Decatur. This day is so special that she even received a Happy Birthday letter from Governor Nathan Deal!
Rosemary is a musician and attended the Philadelphia Music Academy in the late 1930s. She taught in south Jersey and continued to teach when she moved to Atlanta to be closer to her son, Ed. In addition to her passion for music and playing the piano, she also loves Bridge!
A staff member of Rosemary’s nursing home said she has always worked very hard. Rosemary helped put her husband through college. He passed away at a young age, but together they had two children. Her daughter lives in Japan and her son will be at the party on Thursday! She also has four grandchildren.
Rosemary is among a family of lawyers. Her husband was a lawyer, her son went on to become a lawyer, her grandson is a lawyer and so it her son-in-law.
