Thursday evening, an Atlanta native who joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on this date in 1945 will contend for the Guinness World Record in Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Assistant Principal Bass Jane Little, University of Georgia alumni, just turned 87 years-old this week will perform 71 years to the day of her first Atlanta Symphony Orchestra concert to secure the longest professional tenure with a single orchestra.

Upon completion of tonight’s performance, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will submit documentation to Guinness World Record officials, who will use the submitted materials to certify Little’s status as the new world record holder.

Congratulations Jane!
