Morrow Police chief pulls gun over safety concerns

A concern for safety prompts one local chief to pull the firearms his officers just started using. The handgun, a specific Sig Sauer, .9 mm, is the subject of a social media video.

In an informal personal test, the weapon is dropped on a hard surface and it goes off.

Morrow Police Chief James Callaway showed a communication from the manufacturer stating its weapon meets safety standards. At the same time, the firm announced it would be making "enhancements" to that model.

Eric Wallace, with Adventure Outdoors, said various manufacturers warn that in rare circumstances it is possible for a weapon to fire if dropped at a particular angle.

Wallace said if any of his customers are worried about the weapon pulled from the Morrow Police Department, Adventure Outdoors will work with those customers.
