COBB COUNTY, Ga. - New charges have been filed against a Cobb County police officer arrested earlier this week and charged with aggravated assault in connection with an incident involving a woman.
Officer R.L. New was charged Thursday with felony criminal solicitation and felony computer pornography - wireless internet.
New was initially was arrested Monday night at around 10.
In a statement, Officer Sarah O’Hara said, “The incident occurred while New was off-duty. The department initiated an investigation in response to a complaint received concerning New. This investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.”
At a press conference, Cobb County Police Chief Michael Register said that they believed that New met the victim online and that the incident happened at New's home.
